Rạch Vẹm Fishing Village: Rạch Vẹm is a long-established fishing village in Phu Quoc. The name Rạch Vẹm means “Mussel Canal” in Vietnamese. Traditionally, the locals have lived in small cabins by the beach and floating houses along the bay so they could stay close to their seafood farms, raising fish, crabs, oysters, and clams. Both the beach cabins and floating houses are built from corrugated metal sheets, giving them a simple and rather temporary look. Life here used to be very modest. People spent their days eating, sleeping, and fishing. But since late 2014, tourism has gradually started to transform the local way of life. If you plan to visit, the best time is during the dry season, from November to April, when the sea is calm and the water is crystal clear.

Ham Rong beach – starfish beach: Our transport only stops at a fishing village. From there, we will take a local long tail boat to go to Ham Rong, which is located just 3 km away, where loads of starfish live. We will have a picknick on the beach, and go swimming/snorkeling with the starfish.
